 Confess What
                        if right before my eyes

for all the world to see
stood every thought and deed I've done
Right there in front of me?
 What
                        if they confessed me

and owned me for their part
 and announced before the world
they were born within my heart?
 What
                        if though gnarled and twisted

they claimed me as their kin
and let the world around me
 look upon my sin?
 Their
                        clothes all rags and tattered

all filth and dirt and grime
 The shame that really mattered
is that these children all are mine!
 If
I fail to confess my sins

and forsake them while it's day
The seeds I've sown in folly
will in court all have their say
