Can and Cannot

I cannot shovel the ocean’s tide,
nor keep the wind at bay.
I cannot prevent bad news that comes
or stop what people say.
I can’t pluck tares evil hands have sown,
in golden fields of wheat,
but if into a furnace thrown,
faith in Christ can take the heat.
None can close God’s open door,
the Scripture can’t be broken.
When all is gone, trust God has more,
believe what He has spoken. -id
