an Op Ed on Opinions

How long, halt ye between two opinions? 1Ki. 18:21
A

merica cannot make up its mind. We have halted between two opinions. We are stuck on stupid. The Bible says “a double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” Instability and uncertainty make a poor foundation for anything. They are the aggregate sand spoken of by Jesus in his story of the foolish man trying to build his house on nothing. America cannot make up its mind about a thousand issues and resembles a raucous mob in the town square arguing about taxes, borders, gender, inequality, abortion, race, money, etc. or like the poor soul found in the New Testament possessed by an entire legion of demons. What if all the chaos, conflict, and confusion could be settled with a single move on the chessboard of choices? What if a single choice could calm the storm, clear the air, stop the stampede, still the waters? What if we did not have to wait for recounts, audits, consensus, courts, councils, congress, or political parties? What if I voted for a President or Governor with a single act of faith and fidelity, who would reign righteously, justly, wisely? What if that person would never break a promise, disappoint us, fall from grace, or betray our trust? What if that person had your best interest at heart and insured felicity and met every necessity? Would I not be wise to transfer my trust and allegiance to him? The Gaderian demoniac found in Christ the only one able to deliver him from a life of chaos. Only Christ can deliver us from the insanity, profanity, and vanity of sin. The poor man suffered from the demonic despotism of doubt, lived among the crypts and the bloods of unbelief, and was chained to the tomb and the gloom of confusion. He was oppressed by the occupational forces of evil, and a Legion of devils. His condition was systemic confusion in a schizophrenia of self-worship and self destruction.  He was caught in the undertow, riptide, gravity and power of darkness. Jesus set him free. Once bleeding, naked, and mad, he was suddenly found seated, clothed, and in his right mind. You can cast all the ballots you want, but only Jesus can cast out bad spirits. Choose Jesus.   -id
